1．FDG-PETとは. 陽電子（ポジトロン）を放出する放射性同位元素からは、180度正反対の方向に2本のγ線が同時に放出されます。 これらをリング状に検出器を配列したカメラ内の相対する検出器同士で同時にとらえ画像化するのがPET (positron emission tomography: 陽電子断層撮影法)の原理です。 がん細胞では糖代謝が亢進している事実は、1930年代から知られていました。 FDG (2-deoxy-2 [F-18] fluoro-deoxy glucose) はブドウ糖の一部を陽電子放出核種であるF-18に置き換えた物質です。 細胞内にブドウ糖と同じように取り込まれるが、糖代謝の途中で留まり細胞内に蓄積されます。
