「月桃」因開花時期花瓣內側黃色與紅色相錯，類似老虎毛色斑紋，因此被稱為「虎子花」，最近新北大漢溪畔許多月桃已開始在葉梢抽出一串串的花苞，進入含苞待放階段，而在新海一期人工濕地自行車道旁，一整排的月桃「蓄勢待發」即將吐蕊綻放，宛如粉白色鈴鐺垂掛，點綴一片綠意。
