    Most people in the U.S. don't get enough potassium in their diet, which is crucial to eat plenty of potassium-rich foods. Potassium will now be listed on Nutrition Facts food labels after January 2020.

    Bananas, oranges, cantaloupe, honeydew, apricots and grapefruit are high in potassium along with cooked spinach, broccoli and potatoes etc., dairy products like milk and yogurt also contain potassium as well as halibut and other fish species etc.

    Women should get 2,600mg of potassium daily while men should get 3,400mg but most Americans do not meet that goal; if you have kidney disease your needs might be different so ask your doctor about it.
