  1. 2022年4月25日 · Another great experience with Propofol here. I was so worried to be put to sleep against my will, but those worries were completely unnecessary. The doctor gave me the Propofol, I felt a pleasant tingling. I counted to 10, told the doctor that I am still awake. The doctor said “Oh”, and that’s the last thing I remember.

  2. 2022年7月13日 · As far as dizziness, you're going to be recovering in a bed for a bit after the procedure. Propofol is EXTREMELY fast on/off, so although you'll be a bit lightheaded from not eating, you won't be extremely dizzy. Depending on the endoscopy suite they may even give you some juice / cookies afterward. 1.

  3. 2023年10月18日 · Propofol causes strange memory loss for a few hours. The night after my afternoon colonoscopy, I literally forgot how to flush the toilet. Like, I knew that I had previously known how, and I was certain that I’d know again, but I could not remember that I needed to move my arm down so my finger could push the lever.

  4. 2016年3月29日 · Advice: Propofol is a very good general anesthetic, in my opinion. However, you should take a nice big dose of benzos before they start the propofol. A significant minority of patients, including me, do not drift off to sleep gently. Propofol can make you feel very weird, somewhat like too much marijuana.

  5. I've actually experienced both multiple times and 100% prefer propofol. I told my GI I will be insisting on it for my next scope (hospital where I am in Canada really pushes twilight sedation - I've tried it 3 times and felt/remembered the entire procedure every time, and believe me, it was not pleasant).

  6. 2021年10月26日 · Propofol off when they’re on skin (dependent on area to close/closure type/operator skill) Remi off when they put dressings on. Drapes off and little boop on the forehead-“hello Gladys operation’s all done”-and they open their eyes.

  7. Propofol is also a little more predictable in its effects (one, of course, being the hypotension). Also, for non-surgical cases, Propofol will often be used as a drip for sedation— so it’s already being utilizedz I’m with you— I tend to try and use Etomidate (and sometimes Ketamine) more for RSI and (especially) procedural sedation.

  8. 2023年11月22日 · We often do background propofol (10-25 mcg/kg/min) for PONV prophylaxis. I can’t seem to find anything that supports this or recommends a particular dose. I’ve found some studies suggesting 0.5-1mg/kg bolus at the end, but nothing supporting baseline infusion and was curious if anyone had any supporting literature. Thanks in advance!

  9. 2022年2月14日 · Precedex is very expensive (at least where I am) and it won’t achieve a RASS less than -1. It’s not a great substitute for even moderate dose propofol and certainly not a Versed gtt. If we are aiming for a RASS less than -1, then we maximize fentanyl and propofol and use PRN Versed pushes (maybe Versed gtt for RASS -5).

  10. You will simply be knocked out, and if you manage to stay awake you will have absolutely no memory of what you did. This drug is also very easy to overdose on. I would take extreme caution of using this. IMO just don't use it, it will be better worth your time/health to not use it. 3.
