《翼星求生》是一款支援最多八名玩家的 PvE 生存遊戲，包含任務模式與常駐的開放世界模式。
抵禦翼星上的嚴酷荒野，人類曾試圖將翼星改造為第二個地球，但它卻成為人類史上最重大的錯誤。探勘者們從軌道太空站上出發，登陸星球表面探索、採集、製作和狩獵，同時也考驗著他們的運氣。
翼星曾經有機會成為第二個地球，但在地表改造計畫失敗之後，星球上的大氣充滿了劇毒，人類的全新殖民希望已然崩壞。翼星變成了天大的笑話，是人類探索星際後殞落的記號。異星的工程師們盡其所能，終止了地表改造的過程，並釋放出經過調整的胚胎。
然而，在他們發現了失敗的原因「異質」之後，眾人對翼星又燃起了興趣。這些「異質」的價值超乎想像，幾乎無法衡量；而它們也引發了淘金熱，甚至加劇了地球上的政治緊張局勢。
