Chen was born in Xizhou, Changhua County in Taiwan. In elementary school, he was the only boy who took part in a singing competition and represented the entire school choir. When he was younger, he had wanted to be a painter. His interest in making music sparked much later in life. After he graduated, Chen moved to Taipei.
