2012年12月1日 · 動脈硬化とは動脈の壁が厚くなり、弾力性が低下して血管の内腔が狭くなることを言います。 その中には3種類の分類がありますが、その代表的なものがアテローム性動脈硬化です。 粥腫（プラーク）と呼ばれるものが血管の壁に作られることを特徴としています。 このアテローム性動脈硬化のプラークが破綻するとそこに血小板が集まり血栓を作って、血管の内腔が狭くなり血液の流れが悪くなったり、血管が完全に詰まり、心筋梗塞や脳梗塞、足などの血管が詰まる閉塞性動脈硬化症などを起こします。 これらアテローム性動脈硬化をもとに起こす血栓症を総称してアテローム血栓症（ATIS）と言います。 ATIS WEBより引用. 血管は全身を巡っているので、アテローム血栓症は体の色々なところで起こります。
