  1. Nontuberculous mycob...| DryLab醫療新知 BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Population study on relationship between nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infection and respiratory failure (RF) is limited. This study evaluated the RF risk, including acute respiratory failure (ARF), chronic respiratory failure (CRF) and ARF on CRF, in patients with NTM infection in Taiwan.

  2. The cumulative incidence of renal stone in the gallstone group was higher than in the non-gallstone group (P < 0.0001, in the log-rank test). CONCLUSION: This nationwide cohort study demonstrates that the risk of renal stones is significantly higher in gallstone patients , compared with the general population .

  3. The risk of leukaemia was significantly lower in the enterovirus-infected cohort than in the non-enterovirus-infected cohort (adjusted subhazard ratio [SHR] 0·44, 95% CI 0·31-0·60; p<0·0001). Children infected with enterovirus have a reduced risk of both lymphocytic leukaemia (adjusted SHR 0·44, 0·30-0·65; p<0·0001) and acute myeloid leukaemia (adjusted SHR 0·40, 0·17-0·97; p=0·04).

  5. The association between acupuncture treatment and stroke risk was investigated by sex and age group (20-44, 45-64, and ≥65 years). The probability curve with log-rank test showed that TBI patients receiving acupuncture treatment had a lower probability of

  6. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis indicated that the CKD-free rate was 1% lower in the NASD cohort than in the comparison cohort (log-rank test, P < 0.0001). Our study provides evidence that patients with NASD have an increased risk of developing subsequent CKD compared with patients without NASD; men, elderly people, and patients with concomitant comorbidities are at the greatest risk.

  7. The adjusted odds ratio (OR) of the risk of glaucoma for those with zolpidem use vs. those without was 1.19 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.02-1.38). Compared to non-zolpidem users, zolpidem users with an average dose of more than 200 mg/year had significantly increased risk of glaucoma (OR 1.31, 95% CI 1.03-1.68).Conclusions: This study ...
