Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd. ( KAL; Korean : 주식회사 대한항공; Hanja : 株式會社 大韓航空; RR : Jusikhoesa Daehan Hanggong ), operating as Korean Air, is the flag carrier of South Korea and its largest airline based on fleet size, international destinations, and international flights. Korean Air Flight 858 was a scheduled international passenger flight between Baghdad, Iraq, and Seoul, South Korea. On 29 November 1987, the aircraft flying that route exploded in mid-air upon the detonation of a bomb planted inside an overhead storage bin in the airplane's passenger cabin by two North Korean agents.
