Japanese. 空に浮かぶ伝説の島、ラピュタを発見したものの、人々に信じてもらえないまま亡くなった父を持つ、見習い機械工のパズー。 彼はある日、空から落ちてきた少女シータと出会う。 彼女は胸に青く光る石のペンダントを身につけていた。 実は、彼女はラピュタの王位継承者であり、そのペンダントこそが空に浮かぶ力を持つ“飛行石”だったのだ。 ところが、二人はラピュタを捜索している国防軍に捕まってしまい、シータを残してパズーだけが釈放されることに。 彼は、同じく飛行石を手に入れようとしていた空中海賊ドーラ一味の協力を得て、シータを国防軍の手から救い出す。 そして、とうとう伝説の島ラピュタと遭遇することになるが……。
