   2020年10月17日 · So adding a sub is really the way to go to get proper bass. You are essentially biamping that way, using the subs amp for the lowest frequencies. You can run your main speakers full range so that they are all tube driven, and then introduce the sub where they roll off.

   • KT88 is 470 ohms and 100uF. Pins 1 and 8 are connected on the KT88. Output trf may need to change. KT88 can have from 2K5 to 5K depending on B+. EL84 2K. If your using 2K5 for you KT88, then the EL84 may be happy, but the impedance match is still out. Still worth a try and a listen.

The KT88 spec is 800v / 600v maximum, whereas the 6550 spec is 600v / 450v maximum. It might be true that most new KT88 designs are really more similar to 6550.

   • Running the KT88 at the same operating point requires about -55V bias. The only way to achieve this is to modify the bias adjustment circuitry, but it looks like there may be not enough voltage. If you can measure the voltage at the top of the bias pots (marked red) relative to the ground when the amp is running, then we can tell for sure.
