5 天前 · Español. About one quarter of the world’s population is infected with tuberculosis (TB) bacteria. Only a small proportion of those infected will become sick with TB. People with weakened immune systems have a much greater risk of falling ill from TB. A person living with HIV is about 13 times more likely to develop active TB.
The report provides a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the TB epidemic, and of progress in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. This set of country profiles are based on data reported by countries and which are held in WHO's global TB database. They are available for 49 countries with high TB disease burden.
