  2. 2019年9月18日 · Sep 18, 2019. #2. If this is a headline about college, 'girl' is more politically incorrect than 'freshman.'. 6. 2022年11月3日 · But 'freshman' is on its way out of fashion (or perhaps it's already out of fashion), at least in American colleges and universities. The gender-linked -man ending is annoying. The new term is 'first-year student.' 'First-year' is also used as a noun: "I have three first-years, two sophomores, and a junior in my Math 430 class."

  7. 2008年10月21日 · However, many students don't finish their undergraduate studies in 4 years, therefore, the terms more appropriately refer to the number of credit hours a student has completed. Roughly these equate to: 0-29 = Freshman; 30-59=Sophomore; 60-89=Junior; 60-119=Senior.

  11. 2010年3月19日 · Aug 26, 2020. #12. I grew up in an academic family and worked in higher education for 35 years, and I don't recall ever hearing 'freshwoman' in the US. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if it was used during the period when people said 'chairwoman' and suchlike. 'Freshman' used to be used for both men and women, although I also have heard 'frosh ...
