《Right Here waiting》是Richard Marx 作詞作曲並演唱
在1994年的美國世界盃開幕式上，Richard Marx（理察．馬克斯）作為當時美國流行樂壇的代表，在幾萬名觀眾聚集的體育場裡引吭高歌《星條旗永不落》。當時體育場裡除了Richard Marx的歌聲之外，全場一片寂靜，鴉雀無聲，連伴奏都沒有，完全是清唱！一名搖滾樂歌手，把國歌唱得跟流行歌曲一樣動聽，這是Richard Marx的絕活，這種大膽之極的舉動很多人可以想得出來，但大概只有Richard Marx這樣的美國人才敢做得出來。在大家都在為他捏一把汗的時候，Richard Marx毫無瑕疵地完成了這一壯舉，令人久久難以忘懷。
Richard Marx不僅歌唱得好，他還能自己創作寫歌，《Right Here waiting》就是他自己寫的一首名曲。
理察．馬克斯(Richard Marx)，1963年6月16日出生於美國芝加哥的一個音樂世家。這位當今搖滾樂壇的白馬王子，其從藝生涯頗具有傳奇色彩：1982年，他曾錄製了幾首歌曲，試著寄給樂壇知名巨星萊昂納爾.里奇（Lionel Richie, Say You Say Me 的作曲及演唱者），不想立即被賞識，並被Richie邀請加盟伴唱。
1987年，Marx推出了第一張單曲唱片《Don't Mean Nothing》。這是一首自傳體的歌曲，它反映了美國社會生活的真實面貌，引起人們的關注。唱片一經出版，迅速登上了美國熱門歌曲排行榜第三名的位置， Richard M-arx 因此一舉成名。1987年5月，Richard Marx的第一部個人專輯Richard Marx問世。當時，他正在美國各地舉行大規模的巡迴演出，專輯也因此一舉成功。其中的單曲《持續回歸》(Keep Coming Back)首先名列排行榜首。接著，專輯中的另外三首單曲(Hold on Tonight, Don't Mean Nothing, Should've Known Better) 接踵登上了冠軍寶座，其中《Should've Known Better》這首歌通過音樂表達了珍惜生命的主旨，Marx將所得版稅收入捐給了在紐約大學兒科診療室就診的一位患癌症的小女孩。Richard Marx因此成為有史以來在同一專輯中有四首單曲排行榜首的第一位搖滾樂歌手。該專輯在全球銷出3，000，000多張，並在排行榜上停留一年半的時間。
