To be considered for admission, you must have completed secondary school with a superior average in academic subjects and have earned a certificate of completion that enables you to be admitted to a university in your home country and is equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma.

As a first-year applicant, you must earn a high school diploma (or equivalent) and satisfy UC minimum admission requirements. UC San Diego reviews both academic and non-academic factors in consideration for admission. Competitive applicants present an academic profile stronger than the minimum requirements detailed below.

To apply for an F-1 or J-1 visa stamp at a U.S. consulate/embassy, OR to transfer your SEVIS record to UC San Diego (if applicable), you must request that ISEO issue you the appropriate visa status eligibility document, called the Form I-20 (for F-1 students) or the Form DS-2019 (for J-1 students).
