So what could be happening is a driver incompatibility between vanguard and some other program on your pc. I'd suggest doing a support ticket with your vanguard logs attached. Riot is effectively installing an always-on backdoor into your system, and even if I used a separate machine exclusively for playing LoL, I still wouldn't want that kind of thing on it. It's not illogical hysteria to be skeptical of hugely invasive software, regardless of what data you store, and I don't give a shit if Riot is legally liable for a potential breach.
