Velocity is a measure of how fast something moves in a particular direction. To define it needs both magnitude and direction. If an object moves east at 9 metres per second (9 m/s), then its velocity is 9 m/s to the east. The idea behind this is that speed doesn't tell us in which direction the object moves in a given frame of reference.
A speedometer is a type of gauge that shows the speed a vehicle is moving. It usually shows the speed in miles per hour (mph) for countries that use the statute mile for distances or Kilometres per hour (kph) for countries that use the metric system.

An object was moving north at 10 meters per second. The object speeds up and now is moving north at 17 meters per second. The object has accelerated. An appleis falling down. It starts falling at 0 meters per second. At the end of the first second, the apple is moving at 9.8 meters per second. The apple has accelerated. At the end of the second...Jane is walking east at 3 kilometers per hour. Jane's velocity does not change. Jane's acceleration is zero.Tom was walking east at 3 kilometers per hour. Tom turns and walks southat 3 kilometers per hour. Tom has had a nonzero acceleration.Acceleration is the rate of change of the velocity of an object. Acceleration a {\displaystyle \mathbf {a} } can be found by using: 1. a = v 1 − v 0 t 1 − t 0 {\displaystyle \mathbf {a} ={\mathbf {v_{1}} -\mathbf {v_{0}} \over {t_{1}-t_{0}}}} where 1. v 0 {\displaystyle \mathbf {v_{0}} } is the velocity at the start 2. v 1 {\displaystyle \mathbf {v...
Newton's laws of motion are rules for how things move. These rules are called "laws of motion". Isaac Newton is the scientist who first wrote down the main laws of motion.According to Newton's Second Law of Motion, the force something needs to accelerate an object depends on the object's mass (the amount of "stuff" the object is made from or how "h...
Deceleration is negative or backwards acceleration. This means that something slows down instead of speeding up. For example, when a car brakes, it is decelerating.
This is the front page of the Simple English Wikipedia. Wikipedias are places where people work together to write encyclopedias in different languages. We use Simple English words and grammar here. The Simple English Wikipedia is for everyone, such as children and adults who are learning English.
Orders of magnitude (time) An order of magnitude describes the link between two amounts. The difference between each amount step is usually 10, with each order being either 10 times greater or 10 times smaller than the next amount. This makes the scale easy to manipulate using logarithms.
The Planck time is the length of time at which no smaller meaningful length can be validly measured due to the indeterminacy expressed in Werner Heisenberg 's uncertainty principle. Theoretically, this is the shortest time measurement that is possible. [1] . Planck time is roughly 10 −43 seconds.
The Lorentz factor is the factor by which time, length, and mass change for an object moving at speeds close to the speed of light (relativistic speeds). It is named after the Dutch physicist Hendrik Lorentz. The equation is: where v is the speed of the object and c is the speed of light.
