    Slovan

    Dragić made his debut in 2003, at the age of 17, in the Slovenian minor league with KD Ilirija. After one year, Dragic transferred to the top-level Slovenian Basketball League and Adriatic League club Slovanin 2004.

    Murcia

    After spending two years with Slovan, Dragic transferred to the Spanish ACB League club Saski Baskonia, who loaned him to the Spanish club Murcia, in 2006.

    Olimpija

    Dragić joined the Slovenian club Union Olimpijain 2007, and he played there during the 2007–08 season, winning the Slovenian League championship with the team.

    Slovenian junior national team

    Dragić won the gold medal at the 2004 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship with the Slovenian under-20 junior national team. He also played at the 2005 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship.

    Dragić competed with the senior men's Slovenian national basketball team at the 2006 FIBA World Championship and the 2007 EuroBasket, in limited roles.
